Angkaew Reservoir

Huay Kaew · Huay Kaew / Zoo / Ang Kaew

About

Ang Kaew is the reservoir inside Chiang Mai University, and it's where half the city seems to go running at sunset. A paved loop of about 1 km runs around the water, with longer routes through the campus if you want more, and Doi Suthep rises right behind it, best seen from the northern end. It's free, it's flat, and it's an easy walk from Nimman, so it's my pick for an evening stroll when you want greenery without leaving town. Go late afternoon for the light on the mountain, and expect plenty of company on the path.
