About
Mae Kuang Udom Thara Dam holds back a big reservoir in the hills of Doi Saket, north-east of the city, and it's a popular ride out for cyclists and anyone with a car and a free afternoon. The viewpoint takes in the water, the mountains around it and, on a clear day, Chiang Mai in the distance, and the suspension bridge is the photo stop most people come for. The roads out here are mostly paved with modest hills, which is why it turns up on so many local cycling routes. Pair it with Doi Saket for a gentle half day.
