The Consul's Garden
Wualai & Chang Khlan · Wualai / Chiang Mai Gate / Chang Khlan
About
The Consul's Garden is the daytime café of Le Coq d'Or, in a big riverside garden on Koh Klang Road that was once the home of W.A.R. Wood, Chiang Mai's first British consul. A huge raintree he planted with his wife still shades the lawn. The menu runs to pastries, all-day brunch, seafood pasta and the 'Consul in Paradise' plate with foie gras and eggs benedict. Coffee comes from a syphon. Weekend afternoon tea in the garden is the treat; I'd save it for a slow Saturday.
