The Canteen is a small, air-conditioned brunch café on Tha Phae Road, right by Tha Phae Gate, with a window that's good for people-watching. It covers breakfast and brunch: set breakfasts, light fluffy pancakes, toast, pasta, salad, Thai dishes and a shrimp and chips that regulars like. Portions are generous and prices fair for the location. It's an easy late-breakfast stop before walking the Old City. The Wi-Fi is fast too, so it works for an hour of laptop time.
